This was originally called Jason’s song, then, my boy in Vietnam, but as the song goes on, it became evident that it should be called, God is fucked if you know what I mean.Â
I thought I had updated this post. Maybe I have, but for now I am going to update this one.
So I like to call this my attempt at doing a Dylan song lol. It’s not even in the same category as his worst song.
But there is a lot of mumbling going on and it’s acoustic, so there’s that lol.
I was pretty fucked up, and it was late at night, or early in the morning, depending on how you look at it.
Â
In the middle of covid, and I had just finished texting with him.Â
He is one of the guys I toured with doing standup. He is currently teaching English in Vietnam. And was telling me about how it was there.
It was under total lock down. Tanks driving through the streets, to make sure no one was out.
They could have a bag of rice or a carton of smokes every few days or so, he would usually take the smokes lol.
I could swear I have already written this, if so I apologize, and will delete one of them.Â
Anyway, after we got done texting, I decided I would write a song about his situation, and basically the whole world situation during covid.
so I grabbed my guitar, I didn’t write any words, or try to come up with any chords in advance of recording this on my phone (you’re probably saying, no shit! lol).
I can’t even make out some words in it, and I wrote it! And the chord progression makes absolutely no sense lol.
But I sent it to him and he fucking loved it! I told him I would do a second version the next day and polish it up a little.
He said, don’t you change a fucking thing!!!Â
So I didn’t.Â
God is fucked if you know what I mean…
