Established in late 2023, Boston-based thrash metal outfit GIFTKRIEG was formed with the singular
intent to craft music as deadly and infectious as their namesake. In May 2025, they delivered on this
promise with the release of their debut EP, Poison War*.
Poison War is a declaration of thrash metal hostilities that unfolds in 4 acts. In its 18-minute runtime,
the EP pays tribute to both the musicality and technicality of American masters EXODUS,
OVERKILL, and SLAYER as well as the ripping aggression of Teutonic thrash legends SODOM,
KREATOR, and EXUMER, and finished with a dose of traditional metal sensibilities and a nod to the
extended song structures of DIAMOND HEAD.
GIFTKRIEG is vocalist B.F. Lally, guitarist Judson Belmont (ex-Ritualizer, ex-Orsus), bassist Rich
Scanlon (ex-Breaking Wheel), and drummer Chris “Banga” Matranga (ex-Summoning Hate, exDroned).
