The Pilgrim...in a foreign voice...

You will have to go to the post to hear the song, it doesn't seem to be working in the forum. I don't want to fuck with it incase it fucks it up in the post. PS, I just cross post some of these old posts in the forum because when I originally wrote them I didn't know anything about keywords, categories' or metadata etc, I still don't know that much now really lol.

But I am slowly going back to add them so google can index them and they can be found in a search. I figure I will crosspost them in the forum so you don't have to go back to the original post, but if you want to hear the scorpions play this one you will have to  🙂 Rock on Bitches!!!

I managed to get the song to play by taking the embedding code off it, and put it in the glam metal section. But I am going to leave the embedding on it here so it doesn't fuck up the actual post.

This is not the way I wanted my song to sound, I wrote it, and this guy who did it changed the lyrics, and I didn't know he had a foreign voice...it sounds like a scorpions song lol, who I love, but I didn't want that.

I pictured it like a country song, which it should be, but the more I listen to this scorpions version...well...I can't really complain...

I am only posting it because it kind of makes me laugh now....not because of the foreign voice, although that makes me laugh, but because he didn't know exactly what I wanted, that was probably partly my fault.

I honestly can't believe he actually changed my lyrics, without consulting me. But I am posting this so a friend can hear it, I think I will end up singing my lyrics...he is a great 80's guitar player though, I'll give him that!

These are the original lyrics I wrote, I combined Kris Kristofferson's and Frankie Laine's with my own. I know he had to change them to make them fit his scorpions song structure, but he didn't even consult me on what he cut, that really pissed me off...

But whateve's, it's all good, I am an evolving slacker after all 😉 he did an admiral job though, but left out so much, that's why I think I have to do it on acoustic and include it all....

The Pilgrim Chapter 33

The Pilgrim chapter 33, to Kris Kristofferson, Frankie Lane, Dennis Hopper and Johnny Cash...and Mom and Dad

My brother used to sit and listen to the Pilgrim

I used to sit and listen with him

It was the best thing we’d ever known

Parents took us to his concert, when we were just kids

Dude came out with no sleeves and a Harley shirt

Long hair, puffing on a smoke, and cool as shit

I really had no Idea who he was

We were kids and just knew we weren’t in church

Thinking back I can’t remember a fucking thing

Except it left a huge impression on me

I think it left an even bigger one on my older bro

Pretty sure it swole his soul

Years later it made more sense

My older bro emulated him, he wore t-shirts in the cold

Didn’t bother him a bit

But he was hardcore and the fucking shit

Little kids watching Kristofferson

So badass singing the Pilgrim

Little could anyone know

That song was about my brother,

So dead on

As we grew older I kind of forgot about it

We all went through so much shit

But then we started going through parents old albums

And when we played the Pilgrim, it was so legit

I actually liked Frankie Lane

Bullet in my shoulder, blood, running down my vest

But when we played the Pilgrim

My bro liked it the best

Till I became a wanted man

I never even owned a gun

Then I listened to the Pilgrim

And I’m always, always, on the run

Little kids watching Kristofferson

So badass singing the Pilgrim

Little could anyone know

That song was about my brother,

So dead on

My brother became the living embodiment

Of the Pilgrim

From the rocking of the cradle

To the rolling of the hearse

The going up was worth the coming down

But still

Bullet in my shoulder

Blood, running down my vest

Twenty in the posse

And they’re never gonna let me rest

But Pilgrim was better, it was so dead on

See him wasted on the sidewalk

In his jacket and his jeans

Wearing yesterday's misfortune with a smile

Little kids watching Kristofferson

So badass singing the Pilgrim

Little could anyone know

That song was about my brother,

So dead on

He’s a walking contradiction

Partly truth and partly fiction

Listening to ACDC

And paving his own road

We all did crazy shit

Hell, we were all just kids

But he was always just a bit crazier than us

That’s why we all loved him so much

He had no boundaries

He didn’t put up any walls

He followed his own rules

And he answered his own call

Little kids watching Kristofferson

So badass singing the Pilgrim

Little could anyone know

That song was about my brother,

So dead on

He had tasted good and evil

In your bedrooms and your bars

He liked to listen to Judas Priest

Didn’t follow any laws

He was hardcore and he knew it

He was like a character in a play

But he took no direction

And he played it everyday

He had no rhyme nor reason

He was mythical and hardcore

He did whatever pleased him

He didn’t believe in right or wrong

Little kids watching Kristofferson

So badass singing the Pilgrim

Little could anyone know

That song was about my brother,

So dead on

This song is about Dennis Hopper, Johnny Cash

Evolving Slacker's older brother, had a lot to do with it too

Sometimes I even wonder, did he even exist at all?

But he woke me up more than once, just to get me stoned

He would listen to my music

While smoking Export A’s

He was every little brothers dream

He really was the most badass guy I’d ever seen

He was really unbelievable

That’s why I had to write this song

He took every wrong direction

On his lonely way back home

Little kids watching Kristofferson

So badass singing the Pilgrim

Little could anyone know

That song was about my brother,

So dead on

And there’s a lot of wrong directions

On that lonely way back home...
